DR. AZUBIKE OKORO

Dr Azubike Okoro holds bachelor and master’s degrees in Sociology & Anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Lagos, respectively. Also, he earned Master of Science in Human Resource (MSHR) degree at the Graduate School of Business, Loyola University, Chicago, and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the School of Business, Argosy University, Chicago. Dr Okoro is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). His other professional affiliations include the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), USA, the Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), USA, the Association for Talent Development (ATD), USA as well as, the Financial Accreditation Agency (FAA), Malaysia. A Certified Training Professional (FCTP), his career started with stints at the Presidency in Nigeria (The Political Bureau) and the Nigerian Economist magazine before joining the bank regulatory/supervisory agency – the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and he served for 30 years. He was the pioneer Director, L&D (NDIC Academy) after serving as Assistant Director, Research Department and Deputy Director, Human Resource Department.

With three decades plus varied experiences in research, social development, administration, journalism, deposit insurance and human resource management, his interest in literary works enables him to remain contemporary in teaching and writing. With extensive exposure in capacity development, including trainings at the Booths School of Business, Chicago, World Bank, Washington, DC, RIPA, UK, ROSS School of Business, Michigan, and Ashridge Business School, UK, etc., his published works include: Exploring the Role of Job Satisfaction in Managing Banking Distress in Nigeria: A Quantitative Causal-comparative Study (Doctoral Dissertation); Fraud And Job Satisfaction Amongst Nigerian Bank Managers and Investigating the Effect of Gender on Banking Distress: Perspectives from the Nigerian Banking Industry (Asian Journal of Research in Banking and Finance, 2013 & 2015); Empirical Study of the Behavioral Pattern of Insured Bank Staff to Job Dissatisfaction; Survey of Performance Management Policies & Practices of Nigerian Banks – Institutional Perspective, Survey of Employee Well-being Post Bank Consolidation in Nigeria (NDIC Quarterly Vol. 13, 2003; Vol. 16, 2006 & Vol. 24, 2010); Perspectives on Aro History & Civilization, Vols. 1, 2 & 3 (2014, 2015 & 2017).
A multi-skilled technocrat with progressive experience in public and large private sector firms; his primary areas of expertise include staffing, learning and development, bank deposit protection scheme, manpower research and report writing. Dr Okoro remains active in academic and professional callings and has in the last decade worked effectively with the C Suite to create corporate strategies and plans that turned-around units, departments, and organizations. Some of the accolades he earned include induction into the international honor societies for graduates of business, Beta Gamma Sigma (Loyola University, Chicago) and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (Argosy University, Chicago). He is happily married with children.
